Bernhard Gruber leads the ‘Austrian Forest Garden Institute’, with his more than 30 year old edible forest garden. One of the first purposefully planned and created forest gardens in Central Europe. The trained food technologist and permaculture activist, has been in international exchange with forest gardeners for many years.
At the seminar Bernhard Gruber will give an insight into the topic of permaculture and go into sustainable systems, especially edible forest gardens and their potential. We will discuss the planning, establishment and management of edible forest gardens and also have time to address individual questions. Under Bernhard’s guidance, a forest garden for southern Denmark, following permaculture methodology and principles, will be planned together as a practical example.
Edible forest gardens are not only naturalness & beauty for the heart and nature, they are sense finding of our oversaturated industrial society and bring us a relaxed and also productive ‘gardening’ close. Through an active humus build-up and a permanent culture with trees, shrubs and perennials in tier farming, edible forest gardens are also our climate chance No. 1! and are the solution to human hunger. They are used more and more all over the world.
